Growing up in Oregon, I learned early on what makes this state special: our commitment to community, our dedication to preserving our natural spaces for future generations, and shared belief that we can make things better.
I was reminded of this last weekend as Governor John Kitzhaber invoked Ken Kesey’s great phrase, “Oregon is the citadel of the spirit.” Since launching this campaign, I’ve been incredibly gratified about those stepping up to support me: teachers, nurses, and local leaders from across our community. I’m being supported by workers pushing for the right to take earned sick leave to care of a sick family member. Based on my record, I’ve been endorsed by the Oregon League of Conservation Voters. They know my commitment to work with them remove toxic chemicals from our children’s toys, as well as standing up to the coal industry who wants to use our roads, rails, and rivers to export their dirty fuel. I’ve got the support of the men and women on the front lines of health care, working to care for the sick and elderly. The stakes in this race couldn’t be higher. House District 34 has been home to progressive champions like Brad Avakian, Suzanne Bonamici, and Chris Harker. The upcoming primary will determine who represents this district and fights for us in Salem. But I can’t do it alone. I need help from folks like you if we are to get our message out and show why this race matters. Please make a contribution of $34 today to help support our campaign. I truly appreciate your help. Also, I wanted to let you know that Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian and his wife Debbie are hosting an event for me at their house this Sunday from 3-5. If you’d like to attend, please email Miles on my campaign at miles @ kenhelm.com. Thank you for your support! Ken P.S. The next few days are critical to finalizing our communications budget. A contribution of $34 today will make a big difference in achieving victory! Phone: 503-986-1434 E-mail: [email protected] Comments are closed.
